ICBA Continues Call to Reauthorize Flood Insurance
Nov. 16, 2018
ICBA sent a letter along with 25 banking, housing, real estate, and other stakeholder groups, to House and Senate leadership, urging them to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program before it expires on November 30. While Members and staff continue to work toward reforms to the program that can garner bipartisan support, the gridlock shows no sign of letting up before the November 30 deadline. ICBA continues to encourage Congress to avoid another lapse.
Separately, Sens. John Kennedy (R-La.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La.), and Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) introduced legislation that will reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program for six months, through May 2019.
